Registration for 2009 Fall General Meeting

See this media release outlining activities at the ASBA's FGM Nov. 22-24, 2009. On Monday November 23 keynote speaker Ian Hill, CEO of Let them be kids, and advocate for local community action, will speak at 1:15 p.m.  On Tuesday participants will hear from three panels that will include former ATA Presidents Larry Booi and Bauni Mackay and former minister of education Dr. Lyle Oberg. Nine school boards vying for $3000 prize

Nine school boards are in the running for the $3000 ASBA Premier’s Award for School Board Innovation and Excellence. The award celebrates the unique role school boards play in launching projects which improve student learning. This is the 10th year that the award, sponsored by Xerox Canada, will be presented at the association’s annual fall meeting. Read about the projects in the running.

The ASBA, Alberta Teachers’ Association and Alberta School Councils’ Association have launched this campaign to encourage Albertans to speak up for investment in public education. 17 trustees honored for long service to public education

The ASBA salutes these Albertans for their service to school boards and public education. We congratulate and thank these school trustees for the work they do on behalf of students and their communities. Of particular note Robert Vasseur of Evergreen CSRD No.2 has been a trustee for 30 years; Gerald Bernakevitch of Evergreen CSRD No.2 has served for 24 years and these two trustees are marking 21 years of service: Clayton Jespersen  and Ken Nagel, Pembina Hills Regional Division No. 7.
