Parents sue school boards over bullying
The January 14, 2010, suicide of 15-year-old Massachusetts girl – media have linked this to bullying at school – and a March 3, 2010, Michigan court’s $800,000 award to a teen boy, who says he endured years of harassment culminating in a sexual assault – speak to the human and legal costs of bullying in schools.
Students are turning to drastic measures and parents are suing. What does it mean for school boards in Canada? And what can Canadian school boards do in the face of this growing trend?
