Marilyn Bergstra

Edmonton Catholic Schools’ representative Marilyn Bergstra grew up in Edmonton and St. Albert. After graduating from St. Albert Catholic High School, Marilyn obtained a bachelor of science and teacher’s certification from the University of Alberta in 1989.  She worked for one year as a substitute teacher for Edmonton Catholic Schools. In 1991 she moved abroad, living in the United States and the United Kingdom for nine years.  When she returned home to Edmonton, Marilyn taught as a chemistry and biology instructor at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, where she was nominated for an Excellence in Teaching award.  Marilyn has a keen interest in home design, and she also runs a house building and home renovation business. 

Marilyn and her husband, Ray, and currently reside with their two boys in Edmonton.
Over the years Marilyn has participated in a range of volunteer activities such as tutoring, the Eucharistic ministry at St. Thomas More Church, motivational speaking, and policy development. 

This is Marilyn’s first term as an Edmonton Catholic School Board trustee.
