Serafino Scarpino is currently serving his second term as a member of the Calgary Catholic School District Board, acting as vice-chair. Serafino worked for the Calgary Catholic School District as a teacher from 1973 until retiring in 2003. Serafino has been active in the church and the community for the past four decades. He was the co-founder and principal of the Calgary Italian School and the chair of the Alberta Teachers’ Association charities committee. In 1988 he received the Alberta Achievement Award for outstanding contribution to the Winter Olympics. He is very active in the parish of Our Lady of Grace Church and is a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He is also involved in the City View Society and the Italian Sportsmen’s Dinner Association. Serafino graduated from the University of Calgary with a bachelor of education and received a master of arts from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. Serafino is married and has two adult children.
