Before coming to the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) in 2004, lawyer Grace Garcia Cooke worked for an Edmonton firm. Her practice focused primarily on municipal and administrative law. She represented a number of municipalities and administrative tribunals before all levels of court in Alberta and has provided advice on various issues ranging from policy and contract review to privacy and liability issues.
Grace completed her post-secondary education at the University of Alberta where she earned a bachelor of arts degree with distinction in 1994 followed by a bachelor of laws degree in 1997.

Grace has been an instructor for the University of Alberta’s faculty of extension – local government studies. She is a member of the City of St. Albert’s municipal planning commission. As a lawyer with the ASBA, Grace gives legal advice to school boards on various issues.
