Zone 5 chair Jay Lyons was first elected to the Foothills School Division Board of Education in 2007. A businessman, Jay lives in DeWinton with his wife Katrin. They have two children. Before running for school board, Jay served two years as chair of the Red Deer Lake school council. “I ran on the notion of putting the public in public education,” says Jay. “It’s critical that we reach out and discuss with Albertans the unique role of public education.”
