School boards debate policies on testing and rural education at ASBA meeting in Red Deer

Alberta’s school boards will vote on policies dealing with student testing and rural schools when they meet in Red Deer June 3 and 4 for the Alberta School Boards Association’s annual Spring Meeting. The meeting takes place at the Delta Red Deer Hotel at 3310 – 50th Avenue.

Diploma exams, provincial achievement tests and an overall approach to student evaluation are among the topics school boards will consider at this meeting. Click here to view the proposed policies are posted on the ASBA website. Boards will vote on policy and budget on Monday, June 3 starting at 1:30 p.m.

Workshops and information sessions run all day Tuesday, June 4. Sessions cover the following topics: The essential work of school boards, Parliamentary Procedures, Presenting with Power and Finesse and a Dialogue with Deputy Minister Maria David-Evans.
