Strategic Plan 2020-2023
This plan came into effect on September 1, 2020.
At the April 9, 2020 Board of Directors’ meeting, ASBA’s 2020-2023 Strategic Plan was approved. The ASBA Board of Directors and Administration are proud to unveil a new strategic plan that is high level, strategic and will guide our direction for the next three years.
Early on in 2019, member feedback suggested that members desired greater input into the strategic planning process. A strategic plan timeline was developed in August 2019 to reflect this feedback and to ensure appropriate preparation and consultation time. During September 2019, ASBA attended a meeting at each zone to share learning regarding the differences between strategic planning and operational planning, as well as to gather input on a new strategic plan.
On February 12 and 13, 2020, the Board of Directors held a facilitated, strategic planning session and invited director alternates and zone chairs to attend; thus, seeking more member input. From this meeting, significant changes were made, and as a result, the Board recommended two courses of action:
- ASBA staff meet with each zone and share the results of the strategic planning session.
- ASBA staff solicit input from the members on the new look and feel of the strategic plan.
The proposed strategic plan was approved in principle at the March 13, 2020 Board of Directors’ meeting, with approved changes based on input from members. In addition, a video message from President Jess was sent out to members to explain the process and approach to the new plan. While ASBA staff were planning to attend each zone meeting, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented these travel plans from occurring. However, ASBA sent out a questionnaire to members on March 13, with input being received until April 6.
With input from this questionnaire in mind, the Board of Directors’ approved the strategic plan on April 9. This increased member input was an integral piece in developing and finalizing the plan, and ASBA thanks you all for your feedback and input throughout this process.
