Alberta School Boards Association’s (ASBA) President’s message: End of school year

As we come to the end of the school year,
I want to extend my sincere thanks to Alberta’s students, teachers, staff and school board trustees for their commitment to education through all of the successes and challenges this year has brought. I have been inspired by the perseverance, creativity and resilience you have demonstrated during these extraordinary circumstances. In a time that has separated us physically, I feel that we have come together so much stronger.
Instead of walking the stage, this years’ graduates have found alternate ways to celebrate, from virtual ceremonies to drive thru graduations. Regardless of how you celebrate, we want to acknowledge the importance of this great milestone.
To our school board trustees– you have demonstrated an incredible amount of passion, agility and flexibility during this challenging time, and for that, I thank you.
Before you sign out of Google Classroom, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and the many programs we have been using to stay connected, I want to wish you all the best this summer.
Stay safe and healthy.
Lorrie Jess
