ASBA Spring General Meeting 2022 resolutions
Red Deer, AB — Alberta School Boards Association’s (ASBA) 61 locally-elected public, separate and francophone school board members attended the Spring General Meeting (SGM) from June 5-7 in Red Deer, with the theme Leading in Unity: Together Towards Tomorrow. The Honourable Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Education, attended a portion of the meeting to bring opening remarks and connect with member trustees.
Member-supported position statements guide ASBA’s approach in addressing issues that affect our members. Throughout the three-day event, ASBA members conducted business and engaged in professional learning with a comprehensive line-up of speakers.
Spring General Meeting 2022 position statements
Fuel-Price Contingency Fund
That, ASBA advocate that the Minister of Education reinstate the fuel-price contingency fund when diesel fuel rises above $1.20 per liter to insulate all school divisions from the fluctuating fuel costs.
Division II/III Learning Disruption Funding
That, Alberta Education provides dedicated literacy and numeracy funding for Division II and Division III students to narrow the gaps in learning experienced because of two years of pandemic induced school closures, online learning, and resulting learning stress
