The Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Terry Gunderson on December 12, 2025.
For more than 20 years, Terry was a trusted Education Consultant with ASBA, supporting school boards and trustees across Alberta through his expertise in governance and leadership. He played a significant role in executive searches, superintendent and board evaluations, strategic planning, policy redevelopment, and the design and delivery of professional learning sessions tailored to the needs of member boards.
His work was informed by extensive system leadership experience, including service as a Principal, Associate Superintendent and Superintendent of Schools. A respected facilitator and speaker, Terry brought clarity, thoughtfulness and practical insight to his work with ASBA members.
Terry’s contributions to the Association and to K-12 education shaped governance practices across the province, leaving a legacy that will endure well beyond his years of service.
